The Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno recently hosted four distinguished visitors from Bangladesh as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program. During their visit Reynolds School Dean Al Stavitsky lead a discussion on the United States system of public and community radio. The discussion took place at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18 in the Reynolds School’s Joyce Conference Room.

Participants included:

Mr. Muhammad Enam Chowdhury, senior assistant secretary, Ministry of Information;

Mr. Md Hasib Hossain, CEO, Radio Mahananda;

Mr. Golam Mourtoza, chief corrdinator, Radio Padma, 99.2 FM Rajshahi; and

Ms. Parvin Nahar, station manager, Radio Jhenuk, 99.2 FM Jhenaidah.

The mission of the program is to help visitors gain a better understanding of federal laws and regulations governing community and public radio broadcasting in the U.S., including discussions on freedom of speech and the Freedom of information Act.
