Caesar has served as executive editor of the Detroit Free Press and has led other newsrooms throughout the country, including the Gannett Co.’s Washington bureau, and newspapers in Florida, Pennsylvania and New York. He was an officer in both the American Society of News Editors and the Associated Press Media Editors, and a frequent presenter at media industry and journalism education programs.
Since joining the Reynolds School as a visiting professor in 2010, Caesar has taught courses in media ethics, reporting and writing.
He completed visiting professorships at Washington and Lee University and at Arizona State University. He earned a bachelor’s in journalism from Grambling State University, Grambling, La.
