Why I teach

What I've Learned

• Acknowledge when you've made a mistake, in journalism or in the rest of life. It's equally difficult to admit both kinds of mistakes.
• Great journalism still can make a huge difference in people's lives.
• That's one reason that no other profession is more fun.
• The best stories often are staring you in the face.
• Real wine experts know that price isn't necessarily an indicator of quality. That's worth remembering in other pursuits, too.
