Why I teach
I teach to learn. I teach to see the smiles of joy, delight and discovery when students accomplish something they never believed possible. What I've Learned
- You can talk about writing to a group, but you can only teach writing to one person at a time.
- Good writing can not be separated from good thinking.
- The instructor is never the most important person in the classroom or lab.
- Students have much to teach me.
- Information fuels creativity.
- True curiosity is rare. Nurture it.
- Floundering Around Theory: Resist the temptation to give students answers and they will find their own.
- Don't ask if you've been nice enough to a student. Ask if you've been honest enough.
- Laughter and fun are vital elements of any learning environment. Chocolate also helps.
