Chelsea Otakan, a Reynolds School freshman, made UWIRE's list of top 100 best student journalists in the nation.

Otakan works as an online editor at The Nevada Sagebrush and helped redesign and innovate the award-winning student newspaper Web site. Sagebrush editor Brian Duggan called Otakan "a model for the future journalist -- Web savvy and a storyteller."

"Chelsea may be new to journalism but she is excited to see where it can
go," Duggan told UWIRE. "She is multi-talented: she can write, she can shoot photos and she
knows how to use the Web, from content management systems, Flash to
other applications."

In her Journalism 101 class during the spring semester, Otakan took a lead with the experimental social networking site, Soup du Journalism. She also built the auto-updating Wordpress site, The Burning Sagebrush, for senior journalism students in the Daily News and The Daily Show class.
