Internship Positions:

Video Production:
We are seeking an individual that has a core understanding of video production, programs (adobe premiere), and how to use a DSLR. You will be responsible for help producing a monthly ‘Kindness News’ Youtube Show that will be promoted online. During this internship, you will sit alongside our executive team to create scripts, shot lists, b-roll, editing, and online promotion.

In addition, you will assist in editing dozens of video blogs that will be sent to schools across the country.

Event Production & Promotion
During this internship you will assist Think Kindness in scheduling school campaigns across the country, shoe drives, and a documentary premiere. You’ll be apart of each campaign from concept to execution. This will include email campaigns, phone pitching, issuing press releases, logistics, and marketing.

The Good Life Magazine has a printing of nearly 20,000, serving three of Reno’s upscale neighborhoods. The magazines are 15 pages each, and feature several pieces profiling local families, community members, charity events and other family-oriented content.

The duties of the intern include, but are not limited to:
-Writing 2-3 short features per month on prominent community members, businesses or events

• Ability to read and write checklists, reports, and correspondence. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, memos, etc.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
This volunteer position requires 10-20 hours per week of dedicated service. The schedule can be determined according to intern availability and agency need; to begin immediately.

Transformation magazine provides a voice for the transgender and gender-queer community by empowering real people to share their stories, redefining the image of trans women by portraying them in a positive light, and helping under-served populations communicate vital information. By ensuring that the stories of transgender people are heard Transformation promotes understanding, increases acceptance, and advances equality.
Transformation’s Journalism Intern will work directly with the Editor, Art Director and staff to actively engage with transgender voices and personalities in print, broadcast, radio and online outlets to ensure empowering, accurate and inclusive coverage of the transgender community.
You will interface with transgender community at large, adult models and performers, drag entertainers, grassroots community organizations and individuals, and provide support and information regarding key issues facing the trans community.
The Transformation Journalism Intern will assist with monitoring media outlets, conducting research, supporting media outreach and follow-up, drafting news items for Transformation’s magazine and blog, supporting ongoing projects, and performing other tasks as needed. You will have the opportunity to write in-depth articles and conduct interviews and have your work published in the only transgender focused publication in the US.
Upon successful completion of the internship you will be provided with a $250 stipend.
Qualifications:
• Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in progressive communications, local and grassroots activism, and knowledge of trans issues.
• Those with experience in journalism, communications or grassroots advocacy or organizing are strongly encouraged to apply.
