This Year:
The fall semester has gotten off to a great start. PRSSA members have had the opportunity to listen to talented, professional speakers such as the Nevada Deputy Communications Director for “Obama for America” and the U.S. Appellate and Supreme Court’s public information officer and leaders in economic development. Students traveled to the annual PRSSA conference in Detroit and returned to work closely with the local PRSA chapter. At the annual PRSA Silver Spikes Award, PRSSA was asked to recognize a top PR campaign.
Every member has been matched with a professional mentor from around the local community and has been able to meet with them for activities like job-shadowing, resume building and networking. Finally, 17 members of PRSSA traveled to San Francisco to tour three public relations agencies including the media relations department of the San Francisco Giants and global public relations firm Lewis PR.
Next semester a trip is scheduled for agency tours in Seattle, Washington as well as more local tours, networking and speaking opportunities.
