Nevada Undergraduate Research Symposium Offers Opportunity to Share Research

The Nevada Undergraduate Research Symposium (NURS) will be held April 23 in the Joe Crowley Student Union at the University of Nevada, Reno (see below for full schedule). The purpose of the symposium is to provide a forum for undergraduate students in Nevada to share the results of their research with fellow students, faculty and the community. The conference includes a keynote speaker followed by a reception and poster presentations. A limited number of participants will be selected to present a 15-minute oral presentation at the conference in addition to their poster presentation.

Past NURS poster presentations from Journalism students include Chanelle Bessette’s presentation of her honors thesis, “Desert Flowers: Sexualized Industries of Nevada and the Women who Work in them,” and Gianna Cruet’s presentation, “The Evolving Role of Newspaper Journalists in Breaking News.” A complete program outlining poster presentations from 2013 may be found here.

If you’re interested in participating and sharing your research results, please apply by March 21, 2014 by submitting the registration form (available here) and a student photo (JPEG or TIFF) to cclack@unr.edu.

Tips on designing an effective poster to present your findings may be found here.
