Fresno Bee offers paid business reporting internship for Reynolds School students

Hone your business reporting and writing skills this summer at The Fresno Bee with an eight-week paid business reporting internship open only to the Reynolds School students.

The Bee is a mid-size daily newspaper in the heart of Central California, and is the No. 1 news source online and in print for a six-county region, with business-related topics as diverse as agriculture (the central San Joaquin Valley is often referred to as the breadbasket of the world), small-business and small-industry development, health care, growth and real estate.

The Fresno Bee aims to give all interns a diverse experience, with different kinds of assignments.

Last year, Reynolds School student Krysta Scripter held this internship, reporting 34 bylined stories — including four that made Page 1 and others that were featured on the “Insight” B-section cover.

We expect similar productivity from our 2017 business interns — plus great multimedia journalism, too. There are plenty of opportunities to show off your video and audio skills and help develop interactives for the website,

We produce a daily Business page featuring local content. And much of our business reporting finds its way to Page A1.

There’s an opportunity for intern synergy, too —  you’ll join a Reynolds intern from Arizona State plus a Fresno State student who won a California Newspaper Publishers Association summer internship scholarship.  And The Bee regularly employs several local college students in part-time capacities.

The Bee’s team of editors is eager to help young talent take off. A business internship at The Fresno Bee can be your ticket to a great future.

Interested candidates should apply by Feb. 28  to Managing Editor John Rich ( Electronic applications only, please; include a brief resume and 2-3 samples of your writing.
